Milton Information Centre and Tokomairiro Museum


Regional Visitor Information Centre providing accommodation, activities and transport information throughout New Zealand. Internet access available.

The stories of industry, agriculture and commerce in the Tokomairiro district are exhibited in the museum''s 1938 Art Deco building, formerly the Milton Post Office. 

A significant exhibition on permanent display examines our small but comprehensive collection of Milton Pottery which includes examples of various production styles, from field tiles to elaborate ornamental pieces. 

Many artefacts from the sailing ship Marguerite Mirabaud, which ran aground at Crystals Beach near Milton in 1907, are also on permanent display. 

Temporary exhibits are drawn from our collections of domestic items especially clothing and textiles. 

Research facilities are available, consisting of our photographic collection as well as documented histories and published reminiscences.
